Show and Share
- Our challenge for this month was to use a new tool or technique, or an old tool a new way
- Various contributions this month
- Stephen shared a chess board design and turned pieces dimensions he created in SketchUp
- Walt showed us a series of robots with moving parts. He made them from hardwoods for first time – usually uses soft. The pattern is one he created from a sample that he bought at a yard sale and disassembled
- Don had some chair blanks that he had from Tom and couldn’t decide what to do. He decided to use scrapers with objective of trying to make it look like one block and did some experimenting with new finishes. Polished with 600 grit paper followed by wax for satin finish
- Bill made a fitted box for his planes then did carving on the box top using nail punch for texture then another with background texture. Tip: used blue tape to mark the dovetails and ensure good fit
- Trevor made a ‘gun’ for his daughter’s Halloween costume. Stared with foam but didn’t like the results so cut pieces from Baltic. Trevor also shared a laser-cut geometric dome.
- Gary –tried a new technique with a pattern to turn a strip of wood into a circle. Hasn’t decided what he will do with it yet but wanted to try for experiment – pretty cool effect
- Darrell used auger as an alternative way to set screws.

50/50 – Stan won $17.50 and Travis and Doug each one a can of Tried & True in bonus draws.
