Business & Reminders
- Thank you to Ted and Debbie for BBG in August and for Brad for donating his 50/50 draw wins back to the pot
- Welcome new member Guy Lanctot
- Reminder that any mail to go to all members should be sent by Gary, Walt, Stan or Stephen to maintain consistent lists
- Church planning Art show / Sale with wine and cheese and looking for rep from AWA to participate. Mary Elizabeth available to volunteer if this show moves forward (tentative Nov 2017 as not enough time for this year)
- Bravery Beads – wood donated by East Coast worth about $450 and they do not want any recognition but Gary reminded members to continue to support East Coast for personal purchases. We will send them pictures of donations. So far, we have received 34 boxes. We are still working with the NWG to coordinate event with IWK. Planning to do media c NWG and quilters guild – M.E. will draft media and coordinate. Stephen will follow-up with NWG
- Dartmouth Market discussion – do we want to commit to regular booth at Mkt (Sat 7-1) – is it an option to do only occasionally? What would be intent – demo, info, recruitment? Majority feel that we would want to definitely have demos in this type of forum, Darrell pointed out that there might be some restrictions on work that we could do – Gary will check out details about the commitment and any restrictions on work
- Julie mentioned news article on communal workshop “Hands on Halifax” at 6070 Almon St
- Bob & Mary Elizabeth looking for presentation ideas or requests – looking to have more member presentations or workshops – multiple people could combine to do shorter presentations — Guy Lanctot has volunteered to do a handsaw sharpening session for our October meeting

Guest Presenter
Our presenter for the evening was Trevor Edis of Blue Crab Design who told us about the evolution of the company, which he operates with his wife, Charlene.
Trevor shared lessons learned and showed us some very cool and diverse samples of the work that they do. He also offered some projects which might be of particular use to our members, such as wooden labels and tags.
