On Saturday, March 12 several members gathered at our usual meeting place for a review of the library. Stephen distributed lists to everyone to check for duplication and condition of books. We discarded old or damaged books and checked that listings were accurate and complete. Ted and Gary took on review of magazines and DVDs as well as organizing a recent donation.
Together we completely reviewed about 3/4 of our current collection, identifying some books that were outdated or badly worn and needed to be removed as well as a number of new additions. Mary Elizabeth will be making the updates to the library database before the next meeting. Books will be colour coded using the existing system. With the new database system, we’ll be able to check out and return books directly into the system and even request a book in advance.
Thanks to everyone who was able to come out for the morning. It was a very productive session. We’ll have to do it again to finish the full library so we’ll be looking for volunteers again soon.
After our work on the library, those who didn’t have other plans celebrated a job well done with a lovely lunch at Pilot’s Pub.
